On the 9th of December the Winter Assembly-2011 took place at “Park Inn Pribaltiyskaya”. It is the traditional annual event of the Leningrad Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry that gathers together representatives of the Government of the Leningrad Region, Consul-generals, heads of the Russian companies and foreign guests.

The Assembly started with informal dialogue between guests in the festively decorated hall. After guests were greeted by the President of the LRCCI, Vice-governor of the Leningrad Region Mr. Ismagilov. He thanked members and staff of the LRCCI for important and responsible work that has been done to keep the Leningrad Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the leading position. Today it remains one of the largest Chamber of the Russian Federation with more than 5000 members.

“The year was difficult, - said the President of the LRCCI, - but we did a great deal. It was mentioned at the high level. The Leningrad Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry, its staff and members received letter of gratitude from the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev for intensive assistance in the economic development of the Leningrad Region, its integration in the economic system of the Russian Federation and creation of favorable conditions for development of all forms of business in the region. Our Chamber participates in realization of social-economic plans of the development of the region. Its activities are aimed at realization of the events and projects that favors the modernization of the economy of the region, development of competition, improvement of investment and business climate in the region, growth of investment activity.”

The Governor of the Leningrad Region Mr. Serdjukov noted that the Leningrad Region keep high growth rate of the gross regional product and investments to the real sector of economy and there is certain desert of the LRCCI. The Governor mentioned the new “Regional law on measures of the state support for organizations and companies working on the territory of industrial parks in the Leningrad Region” adopted on the 23rd of November 2011. According to the Governor of the Leningrad Region, the law will assist in the rise of investment attractiveness of the region. Mr. Serdjukov wished the LRCCI and its members success, well-coordinated work and greeted on the coming New Year.

Business program of the Winter Assembly was devoted to the results of the competition “Business that develops region”. This competition is hold annually by the Leningrad Region CCI and the Government of the Leningrad Region. This year 8 companies of the Leningrad Region got the prize in different nominations.

One of the most important events at the Winter Assembly were the closing ceremony of the Year of Turkey and the opening ceremony of the Year of Germany in the LRCCI. In connection with this delegation from Turkey headed by the President of the Ankara Chamber of Industry (ACI) Mr. Ozdebir visited the Assembly. Mr. Ismagilov thanked representatives of the ACI and of the company “Renaissance Construction” for effective cooperation during the year 2011 and expressed his hopes for the future efforts in realization of the project of Industrial park in the Leningrad Region. Mr. Ozdebir thanked the LRCCI and the company “Renaissance Construction” for the development of business connections between Russia and Turkey. He noticed great support of the Governor of the Leningrad Region in realization of this project.

Today the Federative Republic of Germany is one of the largest trade partners of the Russian Federation in Europe. The cooperation between these two countries are developing even on the regional level. Mr. Ismagilov announced the coming year 2012 the Year of Germany in the LRCCI. Next year our Chamber is planning to pay certain attention to the development of connections between Russian and German companies, attracting German investments to the region. The Consul-general of the Federative Republic of Germany Mr. Haller supported the initiative of Mr. Ismagilov: “I am glad that next year will be the year of Germany. We support this decision. Germany and Russia are becoming more and more important partners in many spheres.” He noted that countries have great potential for the future development of cooperation, especially in energy efficiency, high technologies, environment protection. At the end of the speech Mr. Haller wished everyone Happy New Year.

After the business program all guest of the Winter Assembly could enjoy the delicious food and great music of the Turkish group under the direct of Mr. Kerem Gorsev and Russian group “Chay vdvoem”.
