On the 21st of November 2011 the seminar “Doing business in the USA” took place in the Leningrad Region CCI. The honorary guest of the seminar was the Consul-general of the United Stated in Saint-Petersburg Mr. Bruce Turner. The seminar was opened with the welcome speech of the Director of the Department for external economic relations LRCCI Mr. Kirill Bobrov.
“The USA is know as the country of opportunities and this is truth not only for millions of immigrants, but for many foreign businessmen working in the USA. The Government of the USA recognizes the fact that direct investments are very important for the economy of the country”, - told the Consul-general.
The Principal commercial officer of the Commercial service of the U.S, Consulate General in Saint-Petersburg Mr. Kenneth Duckworth told about Russian-American investment opportunities, particularly, about program Select USA. The program was created in 2001 by the decree of the president Barack Obama to assist foreign investors in the USA. The Head of the Visa department of the USA General consulate in Saint-Petersburg gave brief information on business immigration to the USA. Will Holloway, specialist in the USA tax legislation, and Alina Kaymin, Communication director of the Russian-American Chamber of Commerce, told about delivering goods from the USA to Russia and customs clearance. Business-trainer Irina Zaharova concentrated on the questions of communication with business-partners from the USA.
