On the 13-20th of October 2011 the delegation of the Leningrad Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry visited the first phase of the 110th Canton Fair.
The Canton Fair is held biannually in Guangzhou (China) every spring and autumn, with a history of 53 years since 1957. The Fair is a comprehensive one with the long history, the high level, the large scale, complete in exhibit variety and broad distribution of overseas buyers and the greatest business turnover in China. The Canton Fair is divided into 3 phases. The 1st phase of the fair is devoted to electronics and household electrical appliances, lightening equipment, vehicles and spare parts, machinery, hardware tools, building materials, chemical products. The 2nd phase is devoted to consumer goods, gifts and home decorations. The 3rd phase is devoted to textiles and garments, shoes, health products and food.
The delegation of the Leningrad Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry was headed by the Vice-governor of the Leningrad Region and President of the Leningrad Region CCI Mr. Rashid Ismagilov. The program of the business-mission included not only the visit to the Canton Fair, but also official meetings, such as meeting with the Vice-Chairman of the Guangzhou Development District Mr. Cai Gangqiang and his colleagues, meeting with the Consul-General of the Russian Federation in Guangzhou Mr. Mikhail Medvedev. The members of the delegation had also a great opportunity of meeting the Vice-president and Secretary-general of the Canton Fair and Chairman of the Board Secretary of the CPC Committee of China Foreign Trade Center Mr. Wang Zhiping. The China Foreign Trade Center is a government-sponsored institution which affiliated to Ministry of Commerce of PRC, has been responsible for organizing the Canton Fair since its establishment in 1957. At the official meetings members of the delegation received useful information on the development of the city, its major export and import specializations and directions, legal information and etc. The business-mission was successful and brought new useful and perspective contacts for our companies-members.
